Herbert George Wells was born at Atlas House, 46 High Street, Bromley, in Kent, on 21 September 1866. Called "Bertie" in the family. He was a prolific English writer in many genres, including the novel, history, politics, and social commentary, and textbooks and rules for war games.

The Duryea Motor Wagon Company, established in 1895 in Springfield, Massachusetts, was the first American firm to build gasoline automobiles. Founded by Charles Duryea and his brother Frank, they built the Duryea Motor Wagon, a one-cylinder "Ladies Phaeton", first demonstrated on September 21, 1893, in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Taylor Street in Metro Center. It is considered the first successful gas-engine vehicle built in the U.S.

Venkat Apparao Gurjad, famous Telegu poet, playwright, story writer, critic and social reformer, was born on 21st Sep, 1862. He wrote the Telugu play, Kanyasulkam, which is often considered the greatest play in the Telugu language. Gurajada Apparao was an influential social reformer of his age and was lauded as Mahakavi, meaning "the great poet". He frequently wrote poetry, and is credited with creating a new style of poetry in the Telugu language. He also holds the titles Kavishekara and Abyudaya kavitha pithamahudu.
